From Panama City: Fly to Bocas Del Toro – Isla Colon (BOC) on Air Panama www.airpanama.com (a 45-minute flight from Panama City)

Luggage limit is 30.8 lb per person. If you are flying internationally this is a big difference from your 50lbs and you’ll be expected to pay for excess bag at a rate of 2% of the published fair which usually works out to be about $1.00 per lb over
To get to your AirPanama flight, you will need to change airports from Tocumen International Airport (PTY) to Albrook Airport (PAC). Once you have collected your bags and cleared customs at PTY, there will be people available to help you with your luggage and help you get transportation to Albrook Airport. They will expect a tip for this service. The cab fare to Albrook Airport from PTY is a set price based on the number of passengers and quantity of luggage. It can range from $35 to $75 USD and the driver will have a preprinted chart of these fares.
OR you can take an overnight bus departing from Albrook Bus Station to Almirante ($28 one way, 10 hours) and then catch a water taxi from Almirante to Bocas Town ($6 per person, 30 minutes).
From David, Panama: Take a bus to Almirante ($10 one way, 4 hours) and then catch a water taxi from Almirante to Bocas Town ($6 per person, 30 minutes).
Or From David, Panama: hire a private taxi ($120.00 one way, 3 hours)
From Boquete, Panama: Take the Mamallena Shuttle direct to Bocas ($30, 3.5 hours, includes boat fare to Isla Colon)
From San Jose: Fly to Bocas on Nature Air ($104-$180 one way, 1 hour) OR take the Bocatoreños Bus Line to Changuinola, Panama that departs daily at 9 am from in front of Hotel Cocorí in San Jose ($14 one way, 6 hours). From Changuinola take a taxi to Almirante ($5-10 per person, 45 minutes) and then take a water taxi from Almirante to Bocas Town ($4 per person, 30 minutes).
From Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica: You can either take a super fast and easy shuttle service from Puerto Viejo to Bocas (about $25-30 one way, www.caribeshuttle.com) OR you can take a bus to the border at Sixaola ($3, 2 or so hours) and then a taxi from the border to Almirante ($10 per person, 1 hour 15 minutes) and then take a water taxi from Almirante to Bocas Town ($4 per person, 30 minutes)
Panama uses the United States dollars. If you are coming with American dollars you do not need to exchange money. There is only one bank on the islands and it has 2 ATM machines. Remember to carry smaller notes as many places do not wish to take $50 and $100 bills.
